Recent UFO sighting...

I called my buddy last week to catch up on all the latest news back home and see how he was doing(I used to live in Vermont but now live in LA)- he rattled off the details of a pretty cool sighting he had last week. His dog woke him up about 3:30am wanting to go out.
So, out they went and my friend's dog immediately spooked and ran and hid behind the shed. His dog is a huge bloodhound/black lab cross. He's an aggressive dog too, always chasing bears and anything else that happens to wander by. My friend then said the wind started to pick up and he began to sense something strange in the sky.
He looked up and said he saw what he thought was a massive object with diamond shaped blue lights obscured and hidden behind the clouds. He lives about a mile outside of a small town and told me the object appeared to be over his house and the town at the same time. Then he said the light on his back porch began to act weird. It started to get really bright and was actually stretching out into the woods surrounding his house.
My friend is in his early 30's and doesn't really like to talk or think about anything paranormal or UFO related. So, I considered it fairly significant that he admitted the sighting to me. Before moving to LA I had several incredible sightings in the general area where he lives. My Dad, who still lives on the outskirts of that town, also had an incredible sighting back in the mid '90's, and saw what he described as "a school bus with no wings". Anyway, just thought I'd relay the sighting.
